I guess it was a clue when...

I guess it was a clue when…

…he said he would take public funding and then he didn’t.

…he didn’t have the common sense to avoid someone like Rezko (or that crazy minister, or that 60s retread, or…)

…he promised us everything but lowering the level of the oceans.

…he made such a big deal about never hiring lobbyists to work in his administration.

…he elevated the mere concept of “change” over discussion of specific changes.

…he spent so much time reading in an attempt to learn how to be like Lincoln, rather than just being who we thought we voted for.

…he chose Joe Biden as someone who would be “ready on day one to be president.”

…he was unable to tell us of any executive experience other than being a “community organizer.”

…he made such a big deal about the wealthy paying more in taxes.

…he didn’t have accomplishments in his political life that matched the speed of the rise in his political life.

…he told us he was the one we were waiting for.

…he said we should never ever have gone to Iraq, but talked endlessly about how we really should go to Afghanistan.

…he seemed too good to be true.

Obama has done a good job so far

He is standing up to both the Republicans and the Democratics in Congress regarding the Stimulus Package. Some of his vetting of nominees politicians hasn’t been up to par, but you’d have to agree that finding honest and knowledgeable people in Washington would be quite a challenge. Overall, his nominees have been excellent.

The Obama I remember

The Obama I remember was not going to stack his administration with Washington pols.

But in any event it is not the vetting that is the problem. The vetting frequently indicated non-payment of taxes; the vetting indicated lobbying. It is the decision by Obama to go ahead with those nominees, despite his knowledge of their non-payment of taxes and their lobbying, that is the problem.

But I am sure glad we now have a president who relies on hope and who does not engage in the politics of fear…you know, like saying a recession will last forever…

I am afraid The Audacity of Hope is transforming before our very eyes into merely The Audacity.
